Paulownia is a plantation timber that originated in Asia. It's a pale blond, lightweight wood with its own distinct grain, and it's similar in strength to cedar. Paulownia has a unique, "firm balsa" feel and can be easily painted or stained to look like other types of wood. It takes lime finishes well, and when painted, it doesn't experience oily seepage.
Because of its strength and light weight, which are comparable to that of Western Red Cedar, many customers are purchasing our Paulownia for use in the marine industry.
